A lovely picture book about minibeasts。 There are brightly colourful pictures and simple text with rhyming words describing different minibeasts, which may be found in your garden。My 4 year old son learnt about minibeasts in Nursery so chose this book。 He liked the pictures and looking through the book for minibeasts he knew。 He made comments about them。

‘Mad about Minibeasts!’ by Giles Andreae, illustrated by David Wojtowycz is a fantastic book and resource for any early years classroom。 Starting with an introductory poem in the morning and ending in a goodbye poem in the evening, the book explores a whole range of minibeasts, their habitats and notable features in the form of short, individual poems。 The poems are humorous, educational and have beautiful illustrations alongside them。 Andreae uses exciting language such as ‘scuttle’ and ‘slithe ‘Mad about Minibeasts!’ by Giles Andreae, illustrated by David Wojtowycz is a fantastic book and resource for any early years classroom。 Starting with an introductory poem in the morning and ending in a goodbye poem in the evening, the book explores a whole range of minibeasts, their habitats and notable features in the form of short, individual poems。 The poems are humorous, educational and have beautiful illustrations alongside them。 Andreae uses exciting language such as ‘scuttle’ and ‘slithering’ to describe how the minibeasts move as well as scientific vocabulary such as ‘pincers’ on the earwig and ‘feelers’ on the beetle。 This book will be the perfect hook to introduce a minibeast topic to a class as well as bring the learning outside, where it encourages children to explore their local surroundings and see what minibeasts they can see and discover。 。。。more

A fantastic book to talk about mini-beasts。 I have used this numerous times with EYFS before going for a bug hunt as in introduction tool。 The mini-beasts ask the children questions i。e can you count my spots which are fantastic to get the children to join in with。 Age range: EYFS, KS1Ideas for use: Science, PSHE, movement

A book to use alongside the mini beast topic。 The colours are bright and bold so this keeps young children engaged。 The book describes the different mini beast and what they look like etc。 Children can then go on to write about their favourite mini beast through the use of describing words。 All the children enjoyed listening to this book and excellent follow up work was produced。 I would say to use this towards the end of EYFS and the start of KS1。

This rhyming book is a great read, full of humour and has become one of my favourite! I used this book for a literacy lesson to a reception class where children were writing about their favourite mini-beast using describing words。 Using this book as a model was great, as children were able to identify describing words and used them in their own writing。 They loved listening to this book, as well as myself and enjoyed it。 This book can be used across the curriculum, such as art, where children ca This rhyming book is a great read, full of humour and has become one of my favourite! This brilliantly beastly rhyming book from Giles Andreae will delight his many fans。 From snails and slugs to beautiful butterflies and bustling beetles。 This book is written as a series of mini poems。 There is a sing song nature to the words 'At the bottom of your garden you might hear a sound, a chirrup from the treetops or a scuttle on the ground'。 The rhymes are short and full of humour and are great to read aloud。 The layout of the book is perfect for allowing question time after each bug h This brilliantly beastly rhyming book from Giles Andreae will delight his many fans。 From snails and slugs to beautiful butterflies and bustling beetles。 This book is written as a series of mini poems。 There is a sing song nature to the words 'At the bottom of your garden you might hear a sound, a chirrup from the treetops or a scuttle on the ground'。 The rhymes are short and full of humour and are great to read aloud。 The layout of the book is perfect for allowing question time after each bug has been described。 As with all of Giles Andreae's books the bright, distinctive illustrations are full of child appeal。This would be an excellent book to read when introducing the topic of Minibeasts。 This book would be an excellent way to bring learning outside the classroom - encouraging children to explore and see what minibeasts they can find on the school grounds。This book could be used in Reception, KS1 and early KS2 。。。more

Ideal for nursery aged kids, esp those with a love of mini beasts。 Fun pictures & all told in rhyme so it works well for reading aloud。Read & reviewed for The Bookbag。
